HCMC – Vietnam’s Party General Secretary To Lam, speaking at GE Vernova’s annual energy conference in Vietnam on March 9, said the country could serve as a gateway for the U.S. firm to expand cooperation in ASEAN.

Lam told Scott Strazik, chairman and chief executive officer of GE Vernova, at the Communist Party of Vietnam headquarters in Hanoi City.

He called for the company to deepen cooperation with Vietnam in energy infrastructure, technology and human resources, citing the sector’s importance to the country’s development.

Lam said Vietnam is ready to act as a bridge to support GE Vernora’s partnerships with countries in the region, particularly members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

The Party chief hailed the company’s decision to organize its annual “Future Energy Leadership” conference in Vietnam, which brings together leaders from major global energy groups.

Vietnam will facilitate investment activity of U.S. energy companies, Lam noted, adding that such cooperation would benefit businesses and people in both countries and support bilateral relations.

Energy cooperation could also support the implementation of the Politburo’s Resolution 70 on ensuring national energy security through 2030, with a vision to 2045, he added.

Strazik described Vietnam’s policy environment and economic growth as factors encouraging the company’s cooperation with the country.

GE Vernova chose Vietnam as the first Asian host of its annual energy conference, which gathered more than 100 senior executives from global energy companies, according to Strazik.

The executive said the company aims to act as a bridge between businesses and authorities in both countries while supporting Vietnam’s energy security and socio-economic development goals.
