HCMC – General Secretary of the Party Central Committee To Lam will pay a state visit to Laos on February 5, according to a statement from the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
A high ranking Vietnamese delegation will accompany him during the visit which will take place after To Lam was re-elected as general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam on January 23.
The visit is made at the invitation of Thongloun Sisoulith, General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Central Committee and President of Laos, the statement said.
General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith and his spouse Naly Sisoulith paid a two-day state visit to Vietnam early this week at the invitation of Party General Secretary To Lam and his spouse. His selection of Vietnam as the first country to visit following the successful National Congresses of both Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and Communist Party of Vietnam is of profound political and diplomatic significance, Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Minh Tam told the Vietnam News Agency.
