HCMC – The first batch of Vietnamese Ri6 durians exported to the United Kingdom (UK) is now available on the shelves of supermarkets there.
The five-ton shipment of Ri6 durians arrived the UK at zero duty thanks to the UK-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement, the Vietnam Trade Office in the UK said in a statement.
TT Meridian Ltd, the importer, now offers British consumers with the high-quality specialty of the Mekong Delta, according to the office.
Thai Tran, managing director of TT Meridian Ltd , said the company had plans to bring more tropical fruits from Vietnam to the UK, including mangoes and longans.
A variety of Vietnamese fruits have entered the UK market so far, such as Bac Giang lychees, Tan Lac red-skin pomelos, Yen Thuy pomelos and Cao Phong oranges.
Vietnamese exporters should prioritize effective marketing strategies to bring local agricultural produce to Britons, according to experts.
