HCMC – Tan Son Nhat and Noi Bai international airports have been ranked among the worst globally for passenger experience, according to the 2025 AirHelp Score.
Tan Son Nhat in HCMC came in 248th out of 250 airports worldwide. It received a total score of 6.21, with 6.1 for on-time performance, 6.6 for customer opinion, and 6.1 for food and shopping services.
Noi Bai in Hanoi ranked 242nd with a score of 6.71. The airport earned 6.4 for punctuality, 7.2 for customer satisfaction, and 7.1 for dining and retail services.
AirHelp, a passenger rights organization, evaluated airports based on three criteria: punctuality (60%), customer service (20%), and food and shopping (20%). Data sources included internal flight records and surveys of more than 13,500 travelers from 58 countries.
Cape Town International Airport in South Africa topped the ranking with a score of 8.57, followed by Doha Hamad Airport in Qatar (8.52) and Riyadh King Khaled Airport in Saudi Arabia (8.47).
The AirHelp report noted that flights are considered on time if they arrive within 15 minutes of schedule. A score of 8.5 reflects an 85% on-time rate.
The low rankings suggest performance issues at Vietnam’s busiest airports, including delays, overcrowding, and service limitations.
