HCMC – The Department for Roads of Vietnam has proposed an investment of around VND1.98 trillion to upgrade a 65-kilometer section of the Ho Chi Minh Road passing through Danang City and Quang Ngai Province.
The proposal, recently submitted to the Ministry of Construction, outlines improvements to three sections of the route. The first two sections span a total of over 41 kilometers in Danang, with the first covering 15 kilometers in Kham Duc Commune, and the second covering more than 26 kilometers in Phuoc Nang Commune.
The third section, stretching about 23 kilometers, runs from Km1047+495 to Km1431+127, passing Dak Plo Commune and ending at Dak Pet Commune in Quang Ngai.
The project will replace the current surface with cement concrete and asphalt layers, add two lanes for motor vehicles, and reinforce road shoulders to accommodate mixed traffic, including motorcycles and bicycles. These upgrades are aimed at improving traffic capacity and safety.
Funding will come from the state budget and is expected to be included in the 2026-2030 medium-term public investment plan. Construction is scheduled for 2026-2029, with the upgraded route set to open in 2030.
According to the department, the project is designed to meet increasing transport demand along the Ho Chi Minh Road and support regional economic growth and urban development in Danang and Quang Ngai.
