HCMC – The government of Tra Vinh Province has submitted a report to the prime minister seeking approval for the pre-feasibility study of the Co Chien 2 Bridge project, which would cost an estimated VND3.5 trillion.
The four-lane Co Chien 2 Bridge will connect Ben Tre and Tra Vinh provinces. The project would a total length of five kilometers, including the two-kilometer bridge.
Projected to stretch from Long Hoa Commune, Chau Thanh District, Tra Vinh Province to An Qui Commune, Thanh Phu District, Ben Tre Province, the project is scheduled for implementation between 2026 and 2029, with completion anticipated in 2030.
Co Chien 2 Bridge will help enhance social security and facilitate economic restructuring in Tra Vinh while alleviating traffic congestion.
The bridge will be located 30 kilometers downstream from the existing Co Chien Bridge, which was opened to traffic in 2015. The bridge alleviates traffic congestion on National Highway 1 through Can Tho City and the My Thuan Bridge and reduces the travel distance between HCMC and Tra Vinh and Soc Trang by nearly 80 kilometers.
