HCMC – Binh Duong Province has proposed a VND56.3 trillion metro line that will connect to HCMC’s existing Metro Line No.1 to enhance regional connectivity and support future urban expansion, reported the local media.

The People’s Committee of Binh Duong Province has submitted a prefeasibility study to the prime minister and the Ministry of Finance, seeking the central Government’s approval to present the investment policy to the National Assembly.

The proposed urban rail line would stretch 29 kilometers from Binh Duong New City to Suoi Tien Station, passing through the four cities of Tan Uyen, Thu Dau Mot, Thuan An, and Di An.

The line would start at S1 Station in Hoa Phu Ward, Thu Dau Mot City, and end at Suoi Tien Bus Station in Di An City, where it would link with HCMC’s Metro Line No.1 (Ben Thanh–Suoi Tien).

The estimated project cost includes VND6.67 trillion for land clearance, VND20.27 trillion for construction, VND15.28 trillion for equipment, VND5.33 trillion for management, consulting, and other expenses, and VND8.73 trillion as contingency funds.

To finance the project, Binh Duong proposes using VND21.65 trillion from its provincial budget, mobilizing VND23.38 trillion from other sources, and seeking VND11.26 trillion in central Government support.

The investment policy is expected to be approved in the second quarter of this year, with the feasibility study to follow before the second quarter of 2026. Contractor selection is planned for the first quarter of 2027, with construction starting in the second quarter of the same year for completion in 2031.

Under the province’s master plan for 2021–2030, with a vision to 2050, the elevated railway would begin at the central station in Binh Duong New City, connect to the national railway line between HCMC and Loc Ninh, and follow major corridors such as Hung Vuong Street, DX.01 Road, and My Phuoc–Tan Van Road. The line would run parallel to existing railway routes and end at Suoi Tien Station.
