HCMC – Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang has called upon ministries and relevant agencies to allow citizens to use their VNeID accounts for all online public services, with effect from July 1 this year.

He made the order during the fourth meeting of the Working Group on Administrative Procedure Reform of the Prime Minister held on May 3.

This move addresses the ongoing challenge where individuals must manage multiple accounts issued by various ministries and localities, which burdens the management of personal information.

VNeID, short for Vietnam Electronic Identification, plays a crucial role in state management by reducing waste and errors linked to traditional documentation, thus cutting costs and saving time for citizens.

Ministries and relevant agencies are urged to review and improve legal frameworks, database connectivity, and infrastructure to ensure the smooth usage of VNeID accounts.

The Ministry of Information and Communications and telecommunications service providers are tasked with ensuring that all mobile SIMs are checked and registered to their rightful owners. Citizens are encouraged to download the VNeID app onto their smartphones.

VNeID is a mobile application developed by the Ministry of Public Security’s National Center for Population Database. It aims to replace traditional documents and offer utilities for digital citizens, digital government, and digital society.
