HCMC – The Ministry of Health today, September 27, received more than 1.3 million doses of AstraZeneca from Vietnam Vaccine JSC (VNVC) which had placed an order for 30 million doses with the UK pharmaceutical company.

A representative of VNVC said the vaccine batch arrived in HCMC on September 24 and was then transferred to the ministry, the local media reported.

So far, VNVC has taken delivery of nearly 15 million doses of the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine under its contract with AstraZeneca, including over five million doses that arrived in Vietnam this month. It signed a not-for-profit deal to transfer the entire 30 million doses of AstraZeneca to the ministry to give free vaccinations to people 18 and older.

As of September 27, the country received more than 54 million doses of various vaccines and administered more than 39.32 million doses.

Vietnam aims to have 150 million Covid-19 vaccine doses to cover over 70% of adults at age 18 and above to reach herd immunity.
