HCMC – Vietnam-Oman Investment (VOI) and Aikya Pharmaceutical Group have donated 100,000 face masks to Oman to aid the country’s efforts to curb the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
Oman’s Ambassador to Vietnam Saleh Mohamed Ahmed Al Suqri expressed deep thanks for the medical support package provided by the Vietnamese, confirming that this support package is a demonstration of the solidarity between the people of Vietnam and Oman.
Praising the excellent results of the Vietnamese Government and people in their efforts to control and prevent Covid-19 infections, the Omani Ambassador stated, “The support of the Vietnamese people has deep meaning because a true friend is someone who is always with you in difficult situations. The people of Oman always respect and appreciate the brotherhood of countries that stand side by side with the Sultanate of Oman to provide medical supplies in this difficult situation.”
Nguyen Xuan Giao, investment director of VOI, noted that the support package is a gift from the Vietnamese people to the people of Oman to relieve the difficulties faced by Oman amid the public health crisis.
Giao added that the business community and the Vietnamese people are working with Oman in the fight against the disease. The VOI representative also expressed his hope that this medical support would help the Omani people to overcome the pandemic.
Established in 2008, VOI is an important joint venture between the State General Reserve Fund of Oman and the State Capital Investment Corporation of Vietnam.
In business for over a decade, VOI has disbursed more than US$250 million to Vietnam’s hi-tech agriculture, highways, solar power plants, healthcare, education and water treatment systems.
The company has contributed to the execution of many development plans in Vietnam, with some major projects including the Duong River surface water plant and the Trung Luong-My Thuan Expressway.
Further, VOI has invested in the health and social security sectors through cooperation with its strategic partner, Aikya Pharmaceuticals – one of the leading corporations in producing and trading medical supplies, which includes antibacterial face masks that meet European standards.
