HCMC – The Trung Nhi high-speed boat transported 598 passengers from Vung Tau City to Con Dao Island in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province this morning, February 15, marking the resumption of the service on the route after a nine-month suspension induced by Covid-19.

Phu Quoc high-speed boat JSC, which operates the service on the route, said it will operate at 50% capacity. There will be three weekly trips from Vung Tau to Con Dao on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, and three rides per week on the other leg on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

Also, due to the fuel price hike, Eco ticket prices will increase by 10%, while those of other classes will remain unchanged, reported VietnamPlus.

To prepare for the resumption of the service, since the end of last year, the company had actively worked with the local authorities to map out anti-Covid and boat maintenance plans to ensure safety, said Ngu Thi Dieu Binh, vice general director of the firm.

Passengers are required to fully comply with anti-virus protocols before taking high-speed boat rides. Upon their arrival in Con Dao, those without a negative Covid result will have to take a rapid test.

The service on the Vung Tau-Con Dao route is the last one in the south to resume operations.

Several months ago, some provinces had resumed high-speed boat services to the local islands in Kien Giang, Binh Thuan and Quang Ngai.
