HCMC – The winners of the 10th edition of the Good Book Awards were announced at a ceremony held at the Rex Hotel Saigon on September 27, which was attended by hundreds of scholars, educators, businesspeople, journalists and book lovers.

The awards, co-organized by the Institute for Research on Education Development, the Good Books Promotion project and the OpenEdu initiative, have contributed significantly to promoting the reading culture in Vietnam over the past 10 years by introducing high-quality books across various fields.

After over five months of assessment, the panel of judges comprising 35 leading literary critics, professors, experts, authors and poets selected the 15 best books in seven categories comprising education, research, economics, management, literature, children’s books and new discoveries. These books were either written by Vietnamese authors or translated from foreign books.

Addressing the event, Gian Tu Trung, member of the organizing committee, said the Good Book Awards serve as a channel to bring valuable books closer to readers. It’s also an opportunity for readers and the community to show respect and appreciation to the writers, translators and publishers.

The winning book of each category has a message that each author wants to convey to the readers in a fast changing world.

According to writer Nguyen Ngoc, readers can get lost in a world with too many books. Therefore, the Good Book Awards aim to recommend books worth reading that can offer useful knowledge and precious value.

The Good Book Awards have gained a stellar reputation among the book lovers’ and writers’ communities. Over the past 10 years, a lot of books that won the Good Book Awards have also won the hearts of readers and been among the bestsellers in the country.
