HCMC – The Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) has commenced work on a new cargo terminal at Cat Bi International Airport in Haiphong City to meet the increasing demand for cargo transportation.

The terminal, with an investment of VND724 billion, is designed to have an initial capacity of 100,000 tons per year, with the potential to expand to 250,000 tons per year in the future. The project is slated for completion by January 2026.

An ACV representative emphasized that the expansion and modernization of Cat Bi International Airport is a key priority in the corporation’s development strategy. This initiative is intended to meet growing market demands and contribute to the region’s socio-economic development.

The groundbreaking for the cargo terminal also sets the stage for other significant upgrades at Cat Bi, including the construction of passenger terminal T2 and the expansion of the aircraft parking area. These projects aim to transform Cat Bi into a fully modernized and comprehensive airport.
