HCMC – The northern province of Hai Duong has detected two Covid-19 hotspots in Ninh Giang and Cam Giang districts but their sources of infection remain unknown, according to the provincial steering committee for Covid-19 infection prevention and control.
Specifically, D.N.D, 44, a resident in Gach Village, Lai Cach Town, Cam Giang District, was found to be infected with Covid-19 on February 1. Five people in close contact with the patient also tested positive for the disease the following day, Tuoi Tre Online newspaper reported.
The other case is P.T.N., 20, from Ngoc Hoa Village, Vinh Hoa Commune, Ninh Giang District, a worker of SeJing Corporation in Ninh Giang, who tested positive for Covid-19 on February 1.
The patient had close contact with D.T.V., who had earlier been suspected of being infected with Covid-19, but D.T.V. later tested negative for the coronavirus twice.
On February 2, a person in close contact with P.T.N. was diagnosed with Covid-19.
The competent agencies have yet to discover a connection between these two hotspots and the hotspot in Chi Linh City.
As of 6 a.m. on February 3, the province confirmed 226 Covid-19 cases—157 cases in Chi Linh City, 41 in Kinh Mon Town, 12 in Nam Sach, four in Kim Thanh, four in Hai Duong City, two in Ninh Giang and six in Cam Giang.
At present, 165 patients are being treated at the Chi Linh Medical Center and 52 at the Hai Duong Medical technical University Hospital. Nine others have been transferred to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases.
The province has quarantined more than 6,000 people who had direct contact with the Covid-19 patients and nearly 20,700 people in indirect contact with the patients.
