Ba Ria-Vung Tau to establish nine more Covid-19 treatment hospitals

HCMC – The authorities of Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province yesterday evening, July 26, decided to set up nine additional hospitals to treat Covid-19 patients in the province.

These nine facilities with a total of 1,790 beds will be located at the dormitory of the province’s Medical Intermediate School with 140 beds, the Phu My Town Stadium with 80 beds, the Chu Van An Secondary School in Phu My Town with 250 beds, the Cao Van Ngoc Primary School in Long Dien District with 220 beds, the Song Cau Primary School in Chau Duc District with 130 beds, and the Thang Tam Primary School in Vung Tau City with 350 beds.

Other facilities requisitioned for Covid-19 treatment include the old HIV/AIDS Prevention Center with 120 beds, the dormitory of the province’s Pedagogy College with 300 beds and the provincial stadium in Vung Tau City with 200 beds.

Earlier, the southern province had established four Covid-19 treatment hospitals with a total 740 beds at the Long Dien District Medical Center, the Traditional Medicine Hospital, the Dat Dao District Medical Center and the Vung Tau Hospital. It is also ramping up efforts to put into operation another Covid-19 treatment facility at the College of Petroleum with some 800 beds.

Overall, the establishment of the facilities will raise the number of beds for coronavirus patients in the province to around 3,330 units.

These Covid treatment facilities will operate under the management of the provincial anti-Covid-19 steering committee and receive expert guidance from the provincial Health Department and Military Command.

The province’s Health Department and Military Command are required to coordinate with the relevant agencies to deploy human resources, medical equipment and vehicles to the new facilities to treat Covid patients and dispatch medical workers from local medical facilities and employees handling paperwork to these Covid treatment hospitals.

As of this morning, Ba Ria-Vung Tau had reported 607 locally-infected cases in the latest outbreak since April 27.
