HCMC – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has asked the investor and contractor of the My Thuan 2 Bridge project to complete the bridge over the Tien River in Tien Giang Province in September this year, three months earlier than the previous plan.
The Government leader today, January 30, issued an order to shorten the construction time of the 6.6-kilometer-long bridge project but still ensure its quality while he was visiting the project’s construction site.
The PM stressed the importance of the bridge project in the Mekong Delta region’s economic growth, the local media reported.
The Project 7 Management Board, the investor, said that the project, which includes five packages, is over 70.7% complete by contract value, exceeding the plan by over 2%.
The My Thuan 2 Bridge project, some 300 meters from the current My Thuan bridge, requires over VND5 trillion in total investment. The project, part of the North-South expressway project, got off the ground in February 2020.
Once in place, the bridge will be connected to the Trung Luong-My Thuan and My Thuan-Can Tho expressways, helping ease the traffic on the current My Thuan bridge and National Highway 1A.
