HCMC – Vietnam Airlines has announced that a pilot who tested positive for a banned substance in late April will be fired.
According to the Aviation Medical Center’s report, the presence of prohibited substances in the pilot’s blood and urine, discovered during testing, was unrelated to the two pain medications the pilot declared.
The airline is conducting a thorough review and taking appropriate measures in response to this situation, with the most severe disciplinary action being to fire the violator.
Vietnam Airlines reaffirmed its commitment to prioritizing the safety and health of passengers and staff. The airline proactively conducts periodic and surprise tests, particularly for pilots, to identify and address any violations of rules and regulations.
On April 25, the pilot declined to undergo a pre-flight drug test with the crew. Subsequently, the pilot was taken to a testing facility in Long Bien District, Hanoi, where urine samples were collected for immediate drug testing.
The test results revealed a positive presence of ketamine, a synthetic drug.
