HCMC – FPT Semiconductor JSC, a subsidiary of FPT Corporation, has recently signed a strategic partnership with U.S.-based company Silvaco to bolster the quality of human resources in the semiconductor industry and explore potentials for business expansion in this thriving sector.

Under the partnership, Silvaco, FPT Semiconductor, and FPT University will work together to improve the workforce of semiconductor firms in the U.S. Along with the Government’s efforts, the stakeholders intend to build the Vietnam Semiconductor Training Center to grow and improve the talent pool for this sector in Vietnam.

Based on Silvaco’s platform, FPT will provide semiconductor intellectual property (IP) that the U.S. company offers to its customers. The two businesses will work closely on several key aspects in the industry, including standard cell, input-output (IO), and memory design.

In the long run, Silvaco will become a strategic investor of FPT Semiconductor JSC, while the Hanoi-based business will be an exclusive distributor of Silvaco software products in Vietnam’s market.

FPT Corporation previously announced another strategic partnership with LandingAI, a Silicon Valley-based company specializing in machine vision and AI. The collaboration aims to expedite the integration of AI into educational training programs of FPT Education.

These partnership establishments were in line with the growing mutual interests in economic cooperation between Vietnam and the U.S., notably following the upgrade of bilateral ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries early this month.

Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung said the upcoming cooperation initiatives between American semiconductor firms and Vietnamese partners are expected to bring new market prospects and enhance Vietnam’s capabilities in the semiconductor industry.
