HCMC – The 2A Cat Linh-Ha Dong metro line in Hanoi City has transported nearly 20 million passengers during its 26 months of operation, from November 2021 to January 2024.
At present, this metro line serves an average of 22,000 to 24,000 passengers daily, with the number surging to around 35,000-36,000 on weekdays, said Vu Hong Truong, board chairman and general director of Hanoi Metro.
In September 2023, the metro line reached an outstanding milestone, transporting over one million passengers within a single month.
Since November of the same year, the operation and management of the metro have been handled by local personnel, marking the end of the project’s warranty period.
Hanoi has plans to establish an extensive network comprising 10 urban rail lines. The combined length of these lines would be 417.8km, with 75.6km located underground.
The overall investment is around US$40.5 billion.
