HCMC – Vietnam is one of the leading countries in Asia for its significant allocation of funds for infrastructure development, representing 5.7% of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP).
Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang highlighted this achievement during a seminar on enhancing sustainable development through infrastructure connectivity within the Sustainability Week Initiative, hosted by the United Nations General Assembly.
Giang emphasized that infrastructure development is a key component of Vietnam’s sustainable development strategy. The Government’s focus on building a modern and integrated infrastructure system has resulted in the construction of 1,729 kilometers of expressway to date, with plans to expand to 3,000 kilometers by 2025.
Vietnam aims to enhance infrastructure connectivity with neighboring countries to promote inter-regional linkage. This strategy aligns with the country’s goal of prioritizing sustainable infrastructure projects, including renewable energy initiatives and the development of green transportation systems, such as electric public transportation.
The Sustainability Week Initiative, held from April 15 to 19, aims to address issues related to sustainable development and attract global leaders to collaborate on implementing the 2030 Agenda. The event serves as a platform for advancing sustainable development efforts worldwide.
