HCMC – Vietnam is facing over 200 trade defense investigations, prompting the Ministry of Industry and Trade to promise early warnings and support for businesses, local media reported.

In the first half of this year, 24 markets initiated 252 trade defense probes against Vietnamese products. These included 138 anti-dumping cases, 50 safeguard cases, 37 anti-circumvention cases, and 27 anti-subsidy cases.

To support exports, the ministry plans to enhance trade defense capabilities, refine legal frameworks, improve coordination, and protect domestic industries.

The ministry will expedite early warning systems for trade defense cases, combat circumvention and origin fraud, and increase information dissemination to businesses.

With Vietnam’s exports expected to grow in the second half of the year, there may be more investigations, particularly for key products exported to the EU and the U.S.

The ministry will coordinate with other ministries to address new trade defense cases and assist companies with ongoing investigations from previous years.

It will also monitor and issue warning lists for high-risk products and address businesses violating origin regulations or performing unnecessary production steps.
