Japanese Bridge gets new facelift

Cau Pagoda, also known as the Japanese Bridge, is one of the historic relics in the ancient town of Hoi An in Quang Nam Province. This 400-year-old pagoda has become a world-renowned destination for both local and international tourists.

Despite being restored at least seven times between 1763 and 1996, the roofed bridge suffered significant damage due to harsh natural conditions and the passage of time.

With careful preparation and support from UNESCO, the Japanese Bridge underwent another major restoration in late 2022 to preserve its historical value.

On August 3, 2024, the newly upgraded pagoda was reopened to the public, coinciding with the 20th anniversary of the Hoi An – Japan Cultural Exchange event.
