HCMC – The opening ceremony of Minsk Days and the Belarus-Vietnam Business Forum took place this morning, September 23.
The event was attended by officials, diplomats, and business executives from both countries, including Nadezhda Lazarevich, first deputy chairwoman of the Minsk City Executive Committee, and Uladzimir Baravikou, ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to Vietnam.
Speaking at the event, Ambassador Uladzimir Baravikou stated that the cooperation between Belarus and Vietnam is based on a foundation of historic friendship, with mutual economic complementarity. The two countries need to reach a new level of collaboration, leveraging strengths to penetrate the EAEU and ASEAN markets.
Vo Van Hoan, vice chairman of the HCMC People’s Committee, expressed appreciation for the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Belarus which was established since 1992. HCMC aims to further enhance trade and investment cooperation with Belarus, particularly in Minsk, across a diverse range of sectors including manufacturing, consumer goods, medical and pharmaceutical products, food, fashion, and logistics.
The city commits to supporting businesses, especially Belarusian companies, by creating favorable conditions for international enterprises to develop sustainably in Vietnam, Hoan added.
As part of the event, a networking event for Belarusian and Vietnamese businesses was held, providing an opportunity for businesses to exchange contacts and explore cooperation, showcase their products and services, and engage in one-on-one talks.
On the same day, Vietnamese alumni of Belarusian universities attended a reunion at Friendship Tower, marking the first such event organized by the Consulate General of Belarus in HCMC.
Bilateral trade between Belarus and Vietnam reached US$65.3 million in 2023. In the first quarter of 2024, Belarus invested US$32.25 million in three projects in Vietnam.
