Vietjet urged to stabilize services at Tan Son Nhat airport

HCMC – The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) has urged Vietjet to promptly work with service providers to bring ground operations back to normal at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in HCMC following several flight delays there.

Vietjet started handling its own ground services at Tan Son Nhat on April 20, said a representative of CAAV. However, the firm’s takeover of ground services after ending its contract with Saigon Ground Services JSC (SAGS) encountered multiple difficulties, resulting in prolonged delays and schedule changes for many flights on April 20 and 21.

To address the issue, CAAV has required Vietjet to allocate sufficient personnel—especially for passenger and baggage services—as well as adequate ground equipment at Tan Son Nhat in line with the approved plan.

The airline has also been urged to coordinate with ground service providers at the airport to ensure flights are handled as scheduled, as well as review its operations, turnaround times, and ground handling schedules at the airport.

Vietjet must also strictly comply with regulations on responsibilities and obligations toward passengers affected by delays and cancellations.

The Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), the Southern Airports Authority, and related units were asked to support Vietjet during the transition to ensure efficient operations and passenger services at the airport.
