HCMC – The Ministry of Health has reported a steep jump of 30 fresh Covid-19 cases tonight, August 2, taking the country’s caseloads to 620.
There are 16 new patients in Danang City, the country’s largest coronavirus hotspot, nine in Quang Nam Province, and two in Daklak, while Dong Nai, Khanh Hoa and Ha Nam provinces report one each.
The nine new cases confirmed in Quang Nam Province, tagged from 591st to 594th and from the 596th to 600th, include seven women and two men. They had come into close contact with Covid-19 patients or are linked to Danang City or the hospitals in the city. Among the nine patients, aged from 7 to 100, the 596th patient, who is a medical worker at a clinic, visited her patients under treatment at Danang C Hospital from July 14 to 19.
Another case, a 50-year-old female resident of Dong Nai, visited her father at Danang Hospital on July 19. She reportedly had close contact with the 510th patient.
The Central Highlands province of Daklak reported two cases, including a 41-year-old woman, who lives in HCMC’s Tan Phu District, and a 14-year-old boy.
The 601st and 602nd had earlier visited Danang City and attended a wedding party at the For You Palace Wedding and Convention Center.
The 603rd, a 21-year-old overseas student who resides in HCMC’s Binh Thanh District, returned to Vietnam from the United States through Cam Ranh International Airport in Khanh Hoa Province on July 30. He was sent to a quarantine center upon arrival.
The 16 cases in Danang City, tagged from 604th to 619th, had their samples taken for Covid-19 testing today.
The remaining one case of Covid-19, a 44-year-old female resident of Ha Nam Province, traveled to Danang City to run an eatery near Danang Hospital from July 17 to 25.
Over the past nine days, Danang City has reported 120 locally-transmitted cases of Covid-19, while Quang Nam Province has confirmed 35 cases and HCMC has reported eight patients. During the same period, Hanoi City, Quang Ngai and Daklak each has reported two, while Thai Binh, Khanh Hoa, Ha Nam and Dong Nai each has confirmed one.
