SHB to pay additional 13% stock dividend for 2024

HCMC – SHB shareholders have more good news after receiving a 5% cash dividend in June for the first round of 2024, as they are set to receive an additional 13% stock dividend from the lender.

Saigon Hanoi Commercial Joint Stock Bank (HOSE: SHB) has approved August 19, 2025 as the record date for shareholders to receive the 2024 stock dividend.

The lender will issue 528.5 million new shares for the 13% dividend payment, increasing its charter capital to more than VND45.9 trillion and solidifying its place among the five largest private joint stock banks in Vietnam.

Previously, SHB completed the first round of its 2024 dividend payment, distributing a 5% cash dividend to shareholders.

As of August 4, SHB’s market capitalization reached US$3 billion on the stock market, with its share price having doubled since the beginning of the year to VND18,600.

Regarding stock news, the VN-Index of the Hochiminh Stock Exchange (HOSE) today climbed 32.98 points, or 2.21%, against the previous session, to 1,528.19 points with 242 gainers – including 21 hitting the ceiling – and 89 losers.

Around 1.38 billion shares worth VND42.6 trillion were traded on the market, a slight decline in volume but an increase of more than 10% in value compared to the final session last week.

Block deal transactions made up over 141.2 million shares worth a total of VND11.5 trillion, with VIC alone contributing 90 million shares valued at nearly VND9.8 trillion.

The VN30 basket surged by nearly 40 points at the close to 1,653.22 points, with only FPT ending in the red, slipping just 0.4%, while 29 stocks posted gains. In addition to SHB and VIC hitting the daily ceiling in the morning session, VJC and TPB also closed at their upper limits by the end of the day.

In terms of sectors, real estate remained one of the top performers, largely driven by strong gains from Vingroup stocks. Other highlights included NVL, which hit its ceiling price to close at VND18,450, ranking fourth in trading volume on the market with 56.7 million shares matched.

On the northern bourse, the HNX saw 95 gainers and 70 losers, with the HNX-Index rising 3.41 points, or 1.29%, to 268.34 points. Total matched trading volume reached nearly 163.5 million shares worth a combined VND3.3 trillion.
