HCMC – The central province of Quang Tri has called on contractors to speed up work on the Quang Trach 1 thermal power plant to enable its first oil-firing test run on Unit 1 on August 19.
Overall, the project had been more than 94% complete as of early August, with design and procurement over 99% complete and construction and installation about 85%, reported the Vietnam News Agency.
The Quang Trach Power Center, developed by Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) with an investment of VND140 trillion, includes four component projects: site infrastructure, the 1,403-megawatt Quang Trach 1 plant, and two liquefied natural gas-fired plants—Quang Trach 2 and Quang Trach 3—each with a capacity of 1,500 megawatts.
EVN and Quang Tri authorities are also seeking to speed up work on Quang Trach 2 and 3.
Local authorities have been told to resolve all land compensation issues for Quang Trach 1 by August 15, including payments to remaining households and the Hon La Water Supply Company, and to complete the relocation of Vinh Son village’s communal house by September 2.
