HCMC – Domestic gold prices continued their upward trend today, November 28, with SJC-branded gold bars edging close to its recently established record high of VND154.8 million per tael.
As of 9 a.m., Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC) and Doji quoted their gold bar prices at VND152.2 million for buying and VND154.2 million for selling. Phu Quy Jewelry listed SJC gold at VND151.2 million for buying and VND154.2 million for selling, marking an increase of VND800,000 from November 27.
Gold ring prices also rose sharply. Bao Tin Minh Chau lifted its ring gold prices by VND800,000, to VND150.8 million for buying and VND153.8 million for selling. Phu Quy quoted its buying prices at VND150.2 million and selling prices at VND153.2 million, up VND500,000 per tael.
On the global market, gold traded at around US$4,157.8 per ounce, equivalent to approximately VND132.3 million per tael based on Vietcombank’s foreign exchange rate. This left international gold about VND21.9 million per tael lower than domestic SJC gold.
Also this morning, the State Bank of Vietnam set the central reference rate at VND25,155 per U.S. dollar, up VND3 from the previous day. Commercial banks followed suit, raising their dollar prices by the same margin.
Within the trading band of 5% on either side of the central exchange rate, Vietcombank listed the greenback at VND26,162–26,412 (buy/sell), while VietinBank’s quotations were VND26,174–26,412, VND26,192–26,412 at BIDV and VND26,160–26,412 at Eximbank.
