HCMC – The Ministry of Transport has proposed an additional investment of nearly VND1,000 billion to complete connecting roads and interchanges in the first phase of the My Thuan-Can Tho expressway project.
The ministry plans to build an interchange linking the expressway with Vo Van Kiet road in Vinh Long Province, and 7.3 kilometers of access road in Dong Thap Province.
With these adjustments, the total cost of the project would increase to more than VND5.8 trillion, which is VND1 trillion higher than the total approved by the prime minister.
Despite the entire expressway already being accessible to traffic by the end of December 2023, some remaining project components will continue to be worked on and finalized by June 30, 2024.
The My Thuan-Can Tho Expressway, which has a total length of nearly 23 kilometers, helps shorten travel time between downtown HCMC and Can Tho City by nearly half an hour to around three hours.
