HCMC – Multiple outbreaks of influenza B have been reported in Cho Don District, Bac Kan Province, with over 700 of the cases being students and one reported dead.
According to the Bac Kan’s Center for Disease Control, Cho Don District saw many outbreaks of influenza B in many villages in early October. Especially, over 100 cases of influenza B have been reported in Bang Lung Primary School.
Until now, the number of child cases in the region totaled 736 kids who suffered from fevers and had to miss school.
From October 24 to 26, 109 cases were under medical treatment in the hospital and one case was reported dead from complications of prolonged high fever.
Vi Duy Tuyen, vice director of the Bac Kan Health Department, said that samples from the patients showed that the students tested positive for influenza type B. If it is not detected in time, the disease could lead to serious complications.
Given the situation, parents and teachers are encouraged to closely oversee their children to promptly discover fever symptoms or any abnormal signs.
Bac Kan has mobilized human power from the Center for Disease Control to join hands with the locality to ramp up efforts to monitor and detect potential flu outbreaks in the community.
