HCMC – A 67-year-old woman in the northern province of Bac Ninh became the 10th Covid-19 death in the latest coronavirus wave in Vietnam and the 45th death since the disease spread to the country, the Ministry of Health said yesterday afternoon, May 26.
She died of septic shock, pneumonia caused by Covid-19, heart failure, hypertension, hypothyroidism, and diabetes. She had a medical history of hypertension, hypothyroidism, diabetes and obesity, the ministry added.
She was admitted to a local general hospital in Bac Ninh where she was diagnosed with pneumonia on May 11. She tested positive for the coronavirus the following day and was transferred to the Bac Ninh Provincial General Hospital for intensive care treatment.
Her condition worsened on May 25 and she developed symptoms of heart failure and septic shock. She encountered cardiac arrest on the way to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Hanoi. On that night, she experienced cardiac arrest two more times and then passed away.
