HCMC – The government of the northern province of Bac Ninh on January 28 decided to lock down Lam Thao Commune of Luong Tai District, where a Covid-19 patient lives, for 21 days, starting from January 29.

Bac Ninh Vice Chairman Ngo Tan Thuong, head of the provincial steering committee for Covid-19 infection prevention and control, made the decision after the Ministry of Health confirmed the case involving D.L., born in 1990 and a resident of Nhieu Dau Village of the province, the local media reported.

He had been in close contact with another Covid-19 patient from Hai Duong Province as they worked in the same factory at the Vietnam Poyun Electronics Co. Ltd, in Hai Duong’s Chi Linh City.

Bac Ninh has traced 41 people who were in direct contact and 79 others in indirect contact with the Covid-19 patients. Lam Thao Commune alone has confirmed 23 people who were in direct contact with D.L.

Accordingly, residents in the commune are allowed to leave their houses in urgent cases and to work at agencies and factories. They should maintain a distance of at least two meters while interacting with others and not gather in groups of more than two in public places.

The Binh Dinh, Quang Phu, Phu Luong and Tan Lang communes and Thua Town of Luong Tai District must review and make a list of those related to the Covid-19 patients before January 31. Bac Ninh has suspended the transport of passengers to these communes.

The Bac Ninh vice chairman agreed to allow students of schools in the province to stay home for three days, starting from January 29.

The province has also established two teams at two communes, which have borders with Hai Duong, to control people and vehicles traveling to and from the province. Additionally, restaurants, karaoke parlors and bars in the province were suspended from 1 p.m. on January 29.

Bac Ninh will also suspend festivals and arts, sports and entertainment activities that gather a large number of people.

The competent agencies were assigned to tighten controls over the deployment of pandemic prevention and control measures at medical centers, schools, markets, supermarkets, industrial parks and factories.

Heads of agencies and localities must take responsibility before the provincial chairman for the results of the implementation of the assigned tasks.
