HCMC – The southern province of Binh Duong, which is being hit hard by the current coronavirus outbreak, is converting a workshop in the Thoi Hoa Industrial Park in Ben Cat Town into a 6,000-bed Covid-19 field hospital.

Covering an area of 30,000 square meters, it is reportedly the largest field hospital in the country, according to Duong Chi Nam, deputy head of the Health Ministry’s Health Environment Management Agency, reported VnExpress.

Among the 6,000 beds, 200-300 beds of the hospital, named the Binh Duong Field Hospital No.2., will be equipped with ventilators and have 250 medical workers and other staff.

The hospital will be divided into two zones, with each accommodating 3,000 beds. The management of the hospital will be digitalized to ease pressure on human resources and avoid putting additional pressure on the hospital. Data related to patients will be updated every 15 minutes and surveillance cameras can monitor the health status of each patient.

The hospital will admit and treat moderately and severely ill patients, while critically-ill cases will be transferred to the Becamex Binh Duong Field Hospital in the province for further treatment, Nam said.

A plan to develop the Binh Duong Field Hospital No.2. was implemented rapidly, as the province currently has only 11 Covid-19 treatment facilities with over 4,000 beds.

Since the start of the ongoing fourth coronavirus wave on April 27, Binh Duong has detected 46 infection clusters, with 42 yet to be brought under control. As of this morning, July 26, the province recorded a total of 8,417 domestic infections and 18 fatalities. It began social distancing under the prime minister’s Directive 16 from July 9.

In related news, Tay Ninh, another southern province, yesterday, set up three additional field hospitals and four Covid-19 treatment hospitals under the provincial Department of Health.

Specifically, its Field Hospital No.2 is located at the Tay Ninh Ethnic Minority Boarding High School and the Field Hospital No.3 was put up at the Tay Ninh Pedagogy College, with each having 250 beds. The Field Hospital No.5 with 120 beds was installed at the Cao Van Chi Private General Hospital in Hoa Thanh Town. These three facilities receive and treat asymptomatic patients and those with mild symptoms.

As for the four Covid-19 treatment hospitals with a total of 237 beds, the first one is at the Ben Cau District Medical Center, the second is located at the Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases in Chau Thanh District, the third is at the Chau Thanh District Medical Center, and the last one is at the Rehabilitation Hospital in Tay Ninh City.

Tay Ninh’s Covid-19 cases in the latest outbreak had reached 794 by this morning.
