Ca Mau airport to close for one year for upgrade

HCMC – Ca Mau airport is scheduled to close from November 2025 to October 2026 for expansion and infrastructure upgrade, according to the Vietnam News Agency,

The government of Ca Mau has issued a directive requesting relevant agencies and local authorities to work with Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) to carry out construction package No. 12 as part of the Ca Mau airport expansion and upgrade project.

This package includes construction and installation of equipment for the runway, taxiways, aircraft apron, and auxiliary facilities.

During construction, Ca Mau airport is expected to be closed from November 1, 2025, to October 31, 2026.

The project requires a total of around VND2.4 trillion and received approval in principle from the prime minister in October 2024.

According to the master plan, Ca Mau airport will meet 4C standards by 2030, capable of handling medium-range aircraft such as Airbus A320 and A321, with a capacity of one million passengers per year. By 2050, the airport is expected to handle up to three million passengers annually.

Built during the French rule, the airport currently has a 1,500-meter-long and 30-meter-wide runway, accommodating small aircraft such as ATR72 and Embraer E190.

The existing terminal has an annual capacity of 200,000 passengers. At present, the airport serves a daily flight on the Ca Mau-HCMC route.
