The “Can Tho City – 20 Years of Achievements and Development” fair and exhibition officially commenced on November 2, serving as a testament to the accomplishments that Can Tho has achieved over the two decades since it was designated as a centrally-governed city in 2004.

The event is held by the Can Tho Promotion Agency (CPA) under the direction of the Can Tho City People’s Committee, with provincial departments, divisions, and the People’s Committees of the city’s districts acting as coordinating agencies.

According to the CPA, the fair and exhibition manifests the constant efforts of the government and the people of Can Tho in their journey to transform the city into an ecological, cultural, and modern locality. After over two decades, Can Tho has evolved into a center in the Mekong Delta for commerce, tourism, logistics, high-tech agriculture, and scientific advancements, establishing itself as the nucleus of the region.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Tran Viet Truong, chairman of the Can Tho City People’s Committee, said that the event also highlights the significant growth and achievements of various departments, divisions, and agencies at all levels over the past 20 years.

It will help bolster trade linkages among companies, facilitate localities, economic organizations, and businesses in pursuing business cooperation opportunities, and expanding their markets. “This is also a great chance for businesses to promote their agricultural product brands,” he emphasized.

The event encompasses a diverse array of activities, with the “Can Tho City – 20 Years of Achievements and Development” exhibition being the highlight. This exhibition features 100 booths set up by city departments, agencies, armed forces, and the people’s committees of districts. There are also special pavilions set up for embassies and consulates of various countries in Vietnam, such as the Philippines, Indonesia, South Korea, and China.

It is worth noting that the Vietnam International Agriculture Fair 2023 is also taking place as part of the event, with the participation of 250 booths from domestic and international businesses in the agriculture and trade sectors. They exhibit a wide range of agricultural products and equipment; forestry and handicraft items; processed agricultural, forestry, and aquatic products; crop varieties; commercial products, consumer goods, regional cuisine, and local specialties.

Numerous seminars and workshops are scheduled as part of the event, including an agriculture seminar and related activities organized by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. Furthermore, the Department of Science and Technology is set to host seminars on subjects like science, technology, and innovation, aimed at facilitating the socio-economic development of Can Tho City and boosting connections in the technology and equipment supply chain.

Participating companies will also have great chances to participate in trade promotion initiatives and manufacturer-distributor business matching programs at the event.

The event will last until November 6 at the Can Tho Promotion Agency venue, located at 108A Le Loi Street, Cai Khe Ward, Ninh Kieu District, Can Tho City.
