HCMC – The Consulate General of the Netherlands in HCMC will hold a cycling event in the city’s downtown on February 16 to promote sustainable mobility and an active lifestyle.
The cycling tour will take participants through some of HCMC’s most iconic landmarks before finishing at the Residence of the Netherlands’ Consul General. The event also marks the arrival of Dutch cyclists Sven and Rick, who have completed an extraordinary 343-day journey from the Netherlands to Vietnam by bike.
Riders will gather at 6:30 a.m. at the Saigon Opera House at 7 Lam Son Square, District 1, with the ride officially starting at 7:00 a.m. The event will wrap up by 10:00 a.m., with coffee and light refreshments at the finish line.
Participants will also have the chance to win a free bicycle. The initiative is part of the Netherlands Government’s efforts to promote cycling as a sustainable mode of transport in urban environments.
Cyclists of all experience levels are welcome, but they must bring their own bikes and water bottles.
With increasing concerns over urban traffic congestion and environmental sustainability, the event highlights the benefits of cycling—not only for personal well-being but also for the future of greener cities.
