HCMC – Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc has been named head of a national committee for reforming wage policy, social insurance, and benefits for people with meritorious services, according to a new decision.

The appointment was made under Decision No. 1480/QD-TTg signed by the prime minister on July 3. The decision restructures the Central Steering Committee on wage reform, social insurance, and benefits for people with meritorious services.

The Minister of Home Affairs will serve as the standing deputy head of the committee, while the Minister of Finance will act as deputy head. Other committee members include ministers, deputy ministers, and leaders from the central bank, government agencies, and National Assembly committees, reported the Vietnam News Agency.

The committee will oversee implementation of two key resolutions on wage and social insurance reform approved by the 12th Party Central Committee in 2018. It will focus on public sector pay scales, pension schemes, and support policies for individuals who have contributed to national causes.

The scope includes reforms to Vietnam’s public wage system, social insurance programs, and employer-employee wage agreements in the private sector.

The committee is authorized to form working groups, request information from ministries and agencies, and conduct oversight visits. It reports directly to the prime minister.
