HCMC – The Party Central Committee’s Inspection Commission has proposed the Politburo discipline Nguyen Van Binh for his serious violations during his five-year stint as governor of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV).
According to the Inspection Commission, while holding the post of SBV governor from August 2011 to April 2016, Binh flouted working regulations and showed a lack of responsibility, slack leadership and poor supervision, leading to many violations and shortcomings in the issuance and deployment of some regulations on the banking sector, causing serious consequences, the local media reported.
The violations and shortcomings of Binh, who is currently head of the Party Central Committee’s Economic Commission, were very serious, affecting the prestige of the Party and the central bank, and causing public concerns.
The Inspection Commission also proposed the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat expel Ho Thi Kim Thoa, former deputy minister of Industry and Trade, from the Party for her involvement in the violation of regulations on the management and use of a land lot at No. 2-4-6 Hai Ba Trung Street in District 1, HCMC, a State asset, causing losses and wastefulness.
Former Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang also committed serious violations and must be expelled from the Party. However, he is suffering from a fatal disease, so the commission has yet to propose disciplinary measures against him.
