HCMC – Despite an objection from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the Ministry of Finance has persisted with collecting the environmental protection tax on exhaust emissions.
Commenting on a draft plan on the same, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment stated that the collection of the tax from entities using fuels, such as petroleum, oil and coal, is unreasonable, the local media reported.
Therefore, it proposed exempting these entities from the tax.
However, according to the Ministry of Finance, each tax and fee has its purpose.
The environmental protection tax on fuels is aimed at reducing the use of fuels that pose a high risk of environmental pollution, while the tax on exhaust emissions will be calculated based on the volume of exhaust emissions discharged into the environment.
The regulation will encourage individuals and organizations to invest in modern technologies, use fuels sparingly and gradually convert to use clean energy.
The environmental protection tax was planned to be applied to industrial exhaust emissions from manufacturing facilities and exhaust emissions from vehicles, such as motorcycles, cars, trains, vessels and aircraft.
