HCMC – A fire broke out earlier today in Hoi An City, Quang Nam Province, destroying 21 electric tourist cars, reported local media.
The blaze started at around 4:50 a.m. in the parking area of Hoi An Electric Car Company, 5 Le Van Hien Street, Tan An Ward, said Dinh Hoa, chairman of the Tan An Ward People’s Committee.
Employees noticed smoke and flames and attempted to extinguish the fire using handheld extinguishers before alerting the authorities.
The Bac Quang Nam Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Team responded with four fire engines and personnel. The fire was brought under control within half an hour, but not before it had destroyed 21 electric cars, leaving only the frames.
Hoa suggested that the fire might have originated from a battery in one of the cars, which then spread to the others.
This incident follows a similar fire on May 8 at the Central Power College in Tan An Ward, where 40 electric tourist cars were destroyed.
Local authorities are investigating the cause of the fire and are considering measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
