HCMC – A blaze started at a fabric warehouse in Bien Hoa City’s Tan Tien Ward in Dong Nai Province last night, October 11, creating a giant column of black smoke.
At 9.30 p.m. on the day, a security guard saw the fire break out from the old headquarters of Dong Tien Company, which is now used as a warehouse containing fabric after the firm was relocated to the Amata Industrial Park in Long Binh Ward of the city.
As the 2,000-square-meter warehouse contained many highly inflammable items, the fire spread rapidly, posing a threat to several adjacent houses, the local media reported.
After being informed of the blaze, the Dong Nai Police Department’s Fire Fighting and Prevention Division and the Bien Hoa City police dispatched 12 fire trucks and 100 firefighters and police officers to the scene to extinguish the inferno. As the fire was too fierce, the firefighters found it hard to put out the blaze.
The blaze was put under control after raging for over three hours, but burnt the entire warehouse. No casualties were reported. The police are investigating the cause of the fire.
