HCMC – The number of foreign visitors coming to Vietnam has exceeded 1.51 million in the first month of this year, beating the pre-pandemic level of 1.501 million in January 2019.
A General Statistics Office (GSO) report said Vietnam has attracted over 1.51 million foreign tourists in January, a 10.3% rise over the previous month and a year-on-year increase of 73.6%.
South Korea has remained Vietnam’s largest source market for tourism, contributing over 400,000 guests. This represents a 112.2% increase compared to December 2023 and an 161.3% rise versus the same period last year.
China holds the second position with 242,181 visitors, followed by Taiwan and the U.S. with 84,213 and 75,651, respectively.
Out of the total foreign visitors to Vietnam, nearly 1.3 million have traveled by air, accounting for 85.1% of the total. This figure reflects a surge of 60.9% over the year-ago period.
