HCMC – A section of the North–South Expressway from the northern side of Cu Mong Tunnel in Dak Lak Province to Hoai Nhon in Gia Lai Province will be opened to traffic at 10 p.m. today (February 12), according to Project Management Unit 85 under the Ministry of Construction.
Bui Trong Lai, a representative of the unit, said contractors are completing final items, including fire systems and updated traffic signs as required by the Department for Roads of Vietnam.
Motorists are advised to comply with speed limits and traffic rules during the initial operation period to ensure safety.
Earlier, Cao Viet Hung, deputy director of Project Management Unit 2 under the Ministry of Construction, signed an official dispatch to Quang Ngai and Gia Lai provinces on putting the Quang Ngai–Hoai Nhon component project into operation. The opening aims to meet rising travel demand during the Lunar New Year holiday.
By the end of February 12, the Hoai Nhon–Quy Nhon Expressway section, spanning 70 kilometers, and a 20-kilometer section of the Quy Nhon–Chi Thanh Expressway from Cu Mong Tunnel connecting to Hoai Nhon–Quy Nhon will also be operational, adding nearly 180 kilometers to the North–South Expressway network in the central region.
