HCMC – The HCMC government has sent an urgent dispatch to the Ministry of Health seeking 3,000 more medical workers, as infections in the city are increasing, with a relatively high number of severely-ill patients.

The southern city is maintaining the operations of Covid field hospitals. However, some Covid treatment and intensive care facilities need more healthcare workers to cope with a rise in the number of patients, reported Tuoi Tre newspaper.

Accordingly, the municipal government proposed the ministry consider and send 1,000 doctors and 2,000 nurses to help the city treat Covid patients. Among them, the city needs 300 doctors and 600 nurses majoring in emergency and intensive care treatment.

Besides, the city suggested maintaining the operations of the Covid intensive care center under the management of the Hue Central Hospital.

Earlier, the city’s government had written to the Ministry of National Defense asking it to dispatch around 530 military medical workers to pop-up medical stations across the city.
