HCMC hosts National Day reception for diplomatic corps and international organizations

HCMC – The HCMC People’s Committee hosted a banquet at the Independence Palace on August 19 to commemorate the 80th anniversaries of the August Revolution and National Day, with Chairman Nguyen Van Duoc expressing hopes for stronger international cooperation to advance the city’s development.

The event was attended by a large number of members of the diplomatic corps, including consuls general and heads of international organizations based in HCMC.

Speaking at the event, Chairman of the HCMC People’s Committee Nguyen Van Duoc underscored the city’s role as a gateway for exchanges, a leader in economic development, an investment hub, and a center for expanding global cooperation.

He noted that HCMC is currently home to nearly 30 consular offices and numerous international organizations, playing a vital role as a bridge in external relations across economy, culture and education.

The city leader emphasized that HCMC values the contributions of the diplomatic corps in promoting Vietnam’s image and strengthening cooperative ties.

On this occasion, the city expressed gratitude to nations, international partners, investors, and the overseas Vietnamese community for their support and significant contributions to HCMC’s growth.

Chairman Duoc said that under the two-level government structure, HCMC aims to become a regional megacity, with development built on the pillars of finance, technology, industry, and the maritime economy.

He stressed that the city sees domestic strength as the foundation and international collaboration as the driver for breakthroughs, while expressing hopes for continued support from the global community.

The city expects that diplomatic missions, consuls general, and international organizations in HCMC will continue to serve as crucial bridges to foster cooperation and development.
