HCMC – Bus trips on 23 subsidized routes linking the city center with outlying areas have been increased to meet the demand of commuters, especially students.
After the adjustment, the total number of bus trips on those routes from 4 a.m. to 9 p.m. will reach nearly 5,000, according to the HCMC Public Transport Management Center.
The majority of the 23 routes run through schools, universities and densely populated residential areas, such as the Vietnam National University – HCMC, Ben Thanh Market, Cho Lon Market, Mien Dong Coach Station, and Mien Tay Coach Station.
Additionally, the HCMC Public Transport Management Center is considering adding bus trips and operating hours on some airport routes.
At the same time, the center is proposing building bus terminals near the Tan Son Nhat airport, creating favorable conditions to increase bus routes to the airport.
The non-subsidized bus route No. 109 from the Saigon Bus Station to the Tan Son Nhat Airport will be put into service from September 15 with a frequency of 120 trips per day.
The operating hours of this bus route will be from 5 a.m. to 11:45 p.m. The fare for the entire route is VND15,000, while the fare for half the route is VND8,000.
