HCMC – The Standing Board of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee has told the Party Committee of the city’s People’s Committee to instruct the city government and relevant departments to resolve, once and for all, the remaining issues that have long hindered the development of the Thu Thiem New Urban Area.
Speaking at the third meeting of the Executive Board of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee today, January 7, HCMC Party Secretary Tran Luu Quang said the resolution of outstanding issues related to the Thu Thiem New Urban Area development plan would pave the way for breaking ground on key projects there this year.
The meeting looked into a draft report on five years of implementing Resolution 26-NQ/TU adopted on October 14, 2020 by the city’s Party Committee to focus resources on completing the development of the Thu Thiem New Urban Area by 2030.
The Party secretary of the city said efforts should also be made to address past shortcomings and errors to create room for developing Thu Thiem and positioning the area as a new growth pole for HCMC.
Under the city’s development orientation, the Thu Thiem New Urban Area is envisioned as a comprehensive central hub, featuring a political and administrative center, a major cultural center, an international financial center, and a range of other large-scale facilities commensurate with the city’s stature in the next phase of its development.
The Standing Board of the HCMC Party Committee has been assigned responsibility by the Executive Board of the HCMC Party Committee to develop detailed layouts and plans as a basis for launching major projects in 2026. These include the HCMC Political and Administrative Center, a convention and performance center, the Reunification Monument, Thu Thiem 4 Bridge, the International Financial Center, a railway line connecting Thu Thiem and Long Thanh International Airport, and stations connecting rail lines from other areas to Thu Thiem.
