HCMC – The Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) has commenced construction on a VND1.5-trillion air traffic control center in HCMC, which will replace the deteriorating existing facility.
The groundbreaking of the project took place on February 15, with an expected completion date set for May 2025.
The center will oversee and supervise civil and military aircraft operations, providing comprehensive aviation information and communication services for all flights within the HCMC airspace. Its primary goal is to enhance the efficiency of aircraft operations.
The new center will be housed in a main operating building covering 2,360 square meters in Tan Binh District. It will include an electrical engineering station, two antenna towers, and a comprehensive technical infrastructure system.
One of its key functions will be to provide approach control services for Tan Son Nhat International Airport and the initial phase of the under-construction Long Thanh International Airport, which is scheduled to begin operations by late 2025.
