HCMC to ban pedestrians, vehicles on 20 downtown streets tomorrow

HCMC – HCMC will hold a military and civilian parade on April 30 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the south and the reunification of the nation, with pedestrians and vehicles banned from more than 20 downtown streets.

The HCMC Traffic Police Division (PC08) has announced that on April 30, residents will be prohibited from parking vehicles or entering the following restricted areas:

  • Ba Son Bridge, starting from the intersection of D6 and R12 streets
  • Nguyen Binh Khiem Street, from Nguyen Dinh Chieu Street to Nguyen Huu Canh Street
  • Dinh Tien Hoang Street, from Nguyen Dinh Chieu Street to Le Duan Street
  • Ton Duc Thang Street, from Le Duan Street to the turnaround point near 37 Ton Duc Thang Street
  • Mac Dinh Chi Street, from Tran Cao Van Street to Nguyen Du Street
  • Hai Ba Trung Street, from Tran Cao Van Street to Ly Tu Trong Street
  • Pham Ngoc Thach Street, from Ho Con Rua (Turtle Lake Roundabout) to Notre Dame Cathedral
  • Pasteur Street, from Vo Van Tan Street to Ly Tu Trong Street
  • Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street, from Vo Van Tan Street to Ly Tu Trong Street
  • Truong Dinh Street, from Vo Van Tan Street to Ly Tu Trong Street
  • Nguyen Du Street, from Ton Duc Thang Street to Cach Mang Thang Tam Street
  • Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street, from Nguyen Binh Khiem Street to Cach Mang Thang Tam Street

Streets located within the boundaries of the restricted areas include Le Duan Street, Nguyen Van Chiem Street, Le Quy Don Street, Huyen Tran Cong Chua Street, Le Van Huu Street, Han Thuyen Street, Alexandre De Rhodes Street, Cong Xa Paris Street, Dang Tran Con Street, Thu Khoa Huan Street, Nguyen Trung Truc Street, and Dong Khoi Street.

In addition to banning pedestrians and vehicles from the restricted areas, traffic police will also prohibit trucks from entering downtown HCMC from 6:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

According to the traffic police, these measures are intended to ensure security and safety during the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the south and the reunification of the country. Residents are urged to strictly follow authorities’ instructions and comply with road signs.

Only authorized personnel, delegates with valid passes, and vehicles with official badges will be allowed to enter the restricted areas with security screening procedures.

As parking spaces are limited and mostly located within restricted areas, residents are encouraged to use public transportation, including buses and metro services.

Residents can watch the parade on 20 LED screens set up along seven main streets, including Le Duan, Nam Ky Khoi Nghia, Le Loi, Nguyen Hue, Dong Khoi, Dien Bien Phu, and Nguyen Dinh Chieu. The event will also be broadcast on television and social media platforms.
