HCMC – The HCMC government has asked the municipal Department of Planning and Architecture to complete the formulation of an economic development plan along the Saigon River this year, including a riverside road connecting District 1 to Cu Chi District.
At a conference on January 19 to review the HCMC Department of Planning and Architecture’s performance in 2021 and its plans for this year, HCMC Vice Chairman Le Hoa Binh said the park along the river’s section in the city’s downtown area was being upgraded and the economic development plan along the Saigon River was important.
He said the city would complete a plan adjusting the city’s general planning and submit it to the central Government.
The municipal government asked the Department of Planning and Architecture to acknowledge experts’ opinions to quickly complete the plan.
The city will approve regulations on the city’s architecture management before the Tet holiday to remove shortcomings in construction licensing. The city will also set up a working team to boost the development of Thu Duc City.
Director of the HCMC Department of Planning and Architecture Nguyen Thanh Nha said it would hold a tender this year to choose a consultant for the city’s general planning and complete the planning in the third quarter of the year.
The department will also coordinate with the Thu Duc government to submit Thu Duc’s general planning by 2040 to the prime minister for approval this quarter.
In addition, the department will accelerate the 1/2,000 planning of Tam Da and Truong Tho urban areas in Thu Duc City; adjust the 1/2,000 planning of areas along the first metro line project, Ring Road No. 2 and Mai Chi Tho and Vo Van Kiet streets; and review 131 zoning plans to make a list of projects for adjustment or investment attraction.
The department will also participate in the submission of a plan to develop the city’s industrial infrastructure in the 2020-2045 period and adjustments to the planning of areas along the Saigon River for approval; formulate a plan to conduct two phases of a project to develop the city’s service infrastructure from 2020-2025; and design urban landscapes along Le Loi Street and at the Ben Thanh Station of the first metro line project.
